Hi, my name is Joey Iovenitti — Over the past 4 months my view on what it means to make a difference & be in contribution to our community has completely changed. I’ve always loved giving back and creating fun, meaningful events, but this time, my friends and I are taking it to the next level!

We’ve partnered with the Boys & Girls Club of Whittier and The Torch Foundation to bring awareness and essential life skills to young adults stepping into adulthood. From social skills and leadership development to driving skills and beyond—you name it, we’re helping teach it!

This cause is close to my heart because I know firsthand what can happen to youth when they are feel as though they don't matter and no one cares. I made far too many unhealthy choices as a result of seeing adults around me being emotionally unavailable. I wish I could go back in time and get those mentorship and growth opportunities from a program like this and get life-changing guidance. Instead, I chose a path of self-destruction and being an outcast due to not being able to effectively communicate my emotions or connect with family/friends/social groups.

Please help these young adults while there is still time, sadly far too many go to substances and addictions or spiral into serious mental health problems. These programs really are impactful and create the type of connection with young people needed. The Boys and Girls Clubs help younger people feel supported and helps them see they can make better choices to better their future and say yes to the unknown.

If we don't help, the suicide rates and drug abuse rates among the youth will never change.
